CERN Accelerating science

Vladimir Tarasov (b. 1947) is an artist and musician born in Archangelsk, Russia. Since 1968 he has lived and worked in Vilnius, Lithuania. For many years Tarasov performed with the Lithuanian Symphonic Orchestra and other symphonic, chamber, and jazz orchestras in Lithuania, Europe and the USA. Since 1991 he has been working in the visual arts, both solo, and collaborating with artists such as Ilya Kabakov and Sarah Flohr.

Vladimir Tarasov is invited as Guest Artist, as well as a guest speaker at the cultural program of the Open Days of CERN 2019. See all the activities as follow:

Tuesday 11th- Friday 13th September

Guest Artist, a short exploratory residency visiting different experiments and sites, as well as dialogues with scientists. This event is private.

Friday, 13rd September

19.00 Concert at CMS experiment. Private event, by invitation only.

Saturday, 14th September

12.15 'Future Science and Art Collaborations' a debate with John Ellis, theoretical physicist from CERN and Mónica Bello, head and curator of Arts at CERN. CERN Auditorium. Meyrin Site. Free entry, limited seats available.

17.30 Performance of Vladimir Tarasov. CERN Auditorium, Meyrin Site. Free entry, limited seats available.

 

His exploratory visit, performance and participation in the cultural activities of Arts at CERN and the Open Days of CERN are supported by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
