SU Wenchi is a Taiwanese dancer, new media artist and choreographer who founded YiLab in 2005

In Taiwan, an experimental group of new media and performance artists are working on integrating new technology with the performing arts, and seeking to present new performing formats. YiLab’s philosophy is: in work, there is not just one dominant medium, only concepts that appear similar but collide with one another; every artist involved is an independent entity who can freely put forward their viewpoint and undertake an in-depth exploration of the core significance of the theme.

SU Wenchi interested in how human beings shift their understanding of perception through the history of technological innovation and through what remains of the physical body. She’s also curious about whether the ultimate goal of new technology is aiming for a better future or for the past.

SU Wenchi was jointly awarded with Pei-Ying Lin the Accelerate Taiwan Award in 2015. Since her residency at the laboratory, Wenchi has been attracted to science. Her works Unconditional Love and Fact (2018), Infinity Minus One (2018), Anthropic Shadow (2019) and Wave∞ (2019) have been inspired by her time in Geneva.
