CERN Accelerating science

Arts at CERN has welcomed the artist duo, Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand, on 1-3 March, 2016.

The duo create sensory immersion environments that merge physics, chemistry and computer science with uncanny philosophical practices. At their Synergetica Laboratory (Amsterdam), the duo probes macroscopic manifestations of quantum behavior, involving photonics, fluid dynamics and acoustics. Their installations and performances comprise exotic forms of light, such as sonoluminescence, as well as various means of acoustic and optical levitation.

The artists visited the ATLAS Control Center with scientist Tara Shears, the CLOUD Experiment with Hamish Gordon among other experiments and gave a lecture about their works in the CERN Main Auditorium with the participation of GOSH (Gathering for Open Science Hardware) 2016

Their works were later part of a greater exhibition, “No Such Thing As Gravity”, at FACT Liverpool.
