Spider Galaxies

Spider Galaxies by Gilles Jobin 2011

Spider Galaxies is a one hour piece for four dancers choreographed by Gilles Jobin.

The rich sound score was designed by Cristian Vogel using electronic tracks composed by Carla Scaletti which incorporated real data from the LHC.

Gilles Jobin was inspired by the infinite smallness and infinite largeness of the LHC, which he visited with his dancers and musicians. In Spider Galaxies dancers are humans, seahorses, particles and stars at the same time, forming constellations or loving couples, dissolving, chemically associating or arguing.

The piece was premiered in Annecy, France, in March 2011 and its tour includes Switzerland, Lebanon, Peru and Italy.
