Collide@CERN Geneva Film Award
Film has been described as ‘sculpting in time’ by the famous Russian cinematographer Andrei Tarkosvky. It is the 2013 award for the second edition of Collide@CERN Geneva – the 3 year cultural partnership between the City and Canton of Geneva and CERN, which celebrates Geneva as an international centre for the arts and science, past, present and future.
The new film award, funded by the City and Canton of Geneva, is open to international film makers and scriptwriters working in film of any kind, including feature film, short film, documentary, drama or animation, who were born in Geneva, or who currently work or live in the Geneva area.
We are looking for a film maker or scriptwriter who enjoys stretching boundaries, will be truly inspired to feed her/his imagination with the science of particle physics and is interested in engaging with the laboratory in a multiplicity of imaginative and inventive ways.
Entrants must send:
A personal testimony of up to 4 minutes on film or no more than 800 words saying why they want the residency
A project proposal with budget
A CV with a showreel and/or films
These must be sent by Monday 18 February to Collide@CERN Geneva - Film award, Batiment 3-R-008, CERN, 1201 Geneva 23, Switzerland.
Collide@CERN organises an introduction visit for candidates on 7 February from 8.45 a.m to 1 p.m. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The award includes 15,000CHF stipend and a 15,000 CHF grant to develop the new CERN-inspired work during the 3-month residency. Fundamental to the residency is the two-way exchange between the artist and the scientists at CERN. The artist will be assigned a “science-inspiration partner” for the duration of the residency, will carry out interventions and/or workshops with the scientists at the laboratory on a fortnightly basis, as well as giving joint public lectures at the Globe of Science and Innovation at both the beginning and the end of the residency. The artist will also create a blog to publicly showcase the arts/science creative process in action.
The complete rules of the award can be read in full in attachment below or here http://http://www.ville-geneve.ch/themes/culture/soutien-professionnel-culture/prix/prix-collide/
